Gamified Platform Training

The Challenge: Passive Training vs. Active Skill

Internal teams needed a fast and engaging way to strengthen day-to-day platform skills. I focused specifically on navigating features, choosing effective filters, and interpreting complex profile information. Traditional click-through demos were not sticky enough.

The Strategy: Challenges Over Checklists

I moved away from the feature tour model and designed an interactive experience where learners clicked, searched, and explored in the real tool. The design relied on three core pillars:

  • Real-World Mirroring: Challenges centered on actual questions staff receive from users.
  • Peer Learning: Small teams reduced friction and allowed experienced staff to model strategies naturally.
  • Urgency: Light time pressure created energy and encouraged faster exploration.

The Impact

The session earned an average content rating of 4.8/5. Following the training, 91% of participants rated their confidence as Very or Extremely high.

The success of the pilot led to an organizational-wide rollout, scaling from a small team training to a full-company resource.

The Evolution: What’s Next?

To further refine this experience, my next phase of development would include:

  • Scaffolded Paths: Adding difficulty tracks for beginners vs. advanced users.
  • Combatting Skill Fade: Implementing a 5-minute refresher challenge post-training.
  • Deeper Analytics: Capturing objective task-based skill gains.
  • Scalability: Creating a formal facilitator guide for other team leads.
